I haven't posted greeting cards from my collection in a few months, so to anyone I forgot to send wishes to lately, this is for you-- a fun assortment of birthday cards (mostly pre-60's Nova Laugh series) featuring fantastic art and ever witty writing. Lots of devilish winks thrown around, unraveling clothes, vices and villains, etc... I've even included back cover art whenever possible.

These are great. I love the black cat and the devil cards the best. Fantastic forties artwork on all of these. As usual, Karswell, your taste is impeccable (that is, it agrees totally with my own taste, which makes us two wild and crazy guys with great tasteeeeeeeee!)
ReplyDeleteDude, excellent collection based around birthday sinning--smoking, drinking, peeping, flashing. Heck, there's even a couple with the devil himself! Too bad about the missing ones, though. I'd love to see gluttony and rage and cussing and gambling included, too.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite art was number eight, even though underwear isn't really a sin.

ReplyDeletePap, you're rubbin' off on me, it's my only excuse!

What're you crazy? You've never made underwear a sin??? Send me a private message, Mr C-- I'll tell you how!
The first card reminds me of the following-
ReplyDelete-A car dealership showing the devil complaining that hell froze over because the dealership was offering such great deals, and the announcer asked "did this ever happen before?" And the devil replied "Yeah, back in 80 when the Phillies won the world series"
-A political cartoon featuring two devils bundled up because hell froze over and pigs with wings were flying around, with one devil saying "First a republican won the senate seat in Massachusetts and now the saints are in the super bowl"
They will be selling skis and hot chocolate in hades before we give up enjoying these great sites of yours Karswell.
Thank ya kindly, JMR!
