Happy Hallo-peeeean-nut Butter

I don't think this vintage Smooth Peanut Butter container from Kroger was intended as a Halloween candy bucket, but it sure has the fall color vibe and cute kids in costume illos to seal a few All Hallow's Eve deals none the less! Searching around online I notice Kroger had variations of this glorious butta tub, including some actually purposed with a handy handle so it could def be utilized for trick or treating. I'm pretty sure I've never bought PB in a plastic tub before, and now super curious how this stuff tasted too. Also, good luck eating a sandwich underwater, or in space, you crazy lil kooks! I freakin' love that lettering and now need the font.

Oh man that’s cute! Loving those nonsensical illos with all those open-faced PB sammies. But whilst this would be a glorious amount of peanut butter, it ain’t near big enough for trick or treat loot!

After the peanut butter is used up and Halloween has come and gone, this tub could be repurposed in the same way as empty cookie tins, something to hold buttons, a sewing kit, coins, etc.

In this throw away society of ours, many don't see the use for empty packaging, or maybe it is the thrifty part of me speaking.

The colors and images on the tub remind me of 1960's art featuring children. Humpy Dumpty magazine art comes to mind.

Neat find once again Karswell.

Haha, that’s where the Kroger PB Grande buckets with the handle come in!

Very well could be a Humpty Dumpty artist, for sure

These finds are always great because they show unknown artists -- toiling away in the mines of the Kroger corporation -- doing great work with little material. One color -- just an outline -- and a very small area but every illustration has great movement and whimsy. Really well done.

I completely agree about that lettering. It's super. All the peanut better kids are great too, of course. I like the bit where the cat is sneaking off with the economy size bucket.

That whimsical bit of eyebrow sticking out of the space kid's helmet looks like a windshield wiper. Totally essential for an all-weather space suit.
