The Quick 'n' Easy Art of Lou Peters
Good Housekeeping's Quick 'n' Easy Cook Book (1970) is full of beautiful recipes for today's conscientious, time-saving, busy body (please note that I didn't say "woman" as the cover does.) It's also full of beautiful illustrations by Lou Peters, which as usual, will be the focus of today's awesome AEET post. Lou's big-eyed, alien-esque women sure can turn up the heat! For those wondering where the continuation of Halloween posts are, please note (part two) that it is now November, so in light of Thanksgiving that means FOOD, and this month will be a mix of October leftovers with plenty of fall time fun food posts as well. So gather around the table but save some room for dessert, we've seriously got lots more coming up to tempt your palette!
this is incredible! i absolutely love every pic! but i did actually scream when i came to the little girl feeding her doll. holy crap. and the Quick Desserts header with the glowing white cakes is mind blowing. my god. and all the free floating bricks!! man!

ReplyDeleteI think I like numbers eleven and twelve the best, at least as a set. All of these are seriously fabulous though. The yellow-eyed woman in number five is scary as hell for sure. She's definitely still a Halloween post.

DeleteMiss Yellow Eyes in the fifth pic should have been featured in a horror comic titled "Cannibal Cuisine".
ReplyDeleteSadly, my artistic skills are sorely lacking so I can only suggest the title, not draw the comic myself, its best to leave the artwork to true artists.
She's obviously the clear cut winner here with everyone-- and she simply can not wait to cut you all into tiny pieces for her casserole.
DeleteThis morning I took a look at Carol's blog and read about her making Vincent Price Crab Cakes (Which look delicious by the way) and then I read the comments section and found that glamorousglutton has the mirror image of Miss yellow Eyes as her picture icon.

ReplyDeleteI love these illustrations but until Craftypants Carol pointed me to your post I had no idea who the illustrator of my avatar was. I bought it from a photo library and despite trying to get some information on the artist, I hadn't managed to find anything until now.
I have to find this book now. GG
