Speaking of fun, un-used, and old store stock signage (see our previous post), check out this Rocio lingerie advertisement that I picked up in the middle of nowhere a few weeks ago! It's about 20" long and made of a super thin, and very flexible, molded plastic. The Rocio name, woman's torso, and bra pop right off the sign in 3D, and the original scratch-proof, separator paper (or whatever it's called) still clings to the backside. According to Google, the tagline translates into something about "showing off a dreamy line." The assorted retro style stars glittering around her body are indeed doing just that, I might add! Further Googling of anything else Rocio related produced absolutely no information whatsoever, unfortunately.
That's gorgeous! I'm a unapologetic fan of American Pickers (honestly I just like to see into people's houses full of stuff, it's a weird obsession!) so I've gotten a appreciation for cool signage and this is the tops. It's pristine, too, probably never displayed.
ReplyDeleteReally cool find.
Ephemera from a foreign land- was this advertisement art meant for Mexico? Central or South America? Spain?
ReplyDeleteI also had no luck in tracking down the Brand name Rocio. I was never good with foreign languages, so searching Spanish language web pages is beyond my abilities.
Aside from the research digital dead end, the molding work is impressive. Whoever set up the molds for this ad item did top notch work.
Lastly, the fact this isn't distorted or damaged is very fortunate. It is so easy for items made of thin plastic to get squashed or wrecked.
Vacuum plastic signage is so great. Halloween masks for the walls! The paint job here is bright, shiny, and very precise. This thing looks like it was made yesterday.
ReplyDeleteVacuum plastic… that’s the words I was looking for, haha! Thanks :)
