Nude With Moon

A couple of you were asking to see the statue I picked up last week, and here it is. Nothing sums up "art deco" more than a streamlined nude figure engaging in some way with a celestial object. She's about 10 inches high, molded in some kind of composite material, painted gold, and featuring many beautifully formed curves visible from every arresting angle. The face detail is a bit lacking, and there does appear to be a few places of minor repair. None the less, she is absolutely stunning, and another lovely addition to my office collection.

  1. I actually like the face it kind of matches the un-earthly look of the lady and the moon. This is a really cool piece!

I always like to see how sculptures deal with physics -- here the blanket? Towel? That she is on top of allows the piece to stand up straight.

  2. That is a great little statue, I wonder if there are other versions of this, larger, smaller, different colors, etc, out there waiting to be found.

An engraving if this would not be out of place in a Sci-Fi magazine or collection of poetry.

Another amazing find, thanks for sharing.

  3. it's a beautiful sculpt. I'd really love to see it cast in metal. It'd make a lovely hood ornament to some lovely thirties or forties hearse.
