Aww ain't this sweet-- a mid century wee-wee travel urinal for lil' squirts, hahaha... and never used as you can see as it's still in the original packaging. This appears to be a rather rare find, and the header is wonderfully designed too, with great lettering and color combo. (I especially love that bear mascot!) Lil' Squirt blondie about to perform a wee-wee is also ultra adorbz-- just don't forget to read the ever important directions on the back first.

Sears, Roebuck, & Co. Mannequin Models (1939)
I recently picked up a Fall / Winter 1939-1940 Sears, Roebuck and Co. catalog, highlighted by an entire chapter of beautiful vintage mannequins modeling ladies undergarments. As much as I love mannequins, (and some of you know I do), I still thought it was a little odd. So I flipped through a few other catalogs in my collection (some even older than this one), and while not seeing mannequins, it was apparent by all of the illustrated images of ladies in slips and nighties, that yes indeed, not many actual LIVE flesh and blood models were used for this sort of private fashion exhibition back in the day. Of course, it may not be true for all department store catalogs, but still interesting none the less, with many of the mannequins resembling famous Hollywood glamour queens and popular pin-ups of the era, not to mention the hairstyles, and alluring attitude.

Dimitrino & Co. Tin
Here's something you don't find every day, an Egyptian cigarette tin from the early half of the 1900's. It's a little beat up but that doesn't stop it from taking your breath away while gazing upon all sides of the astoundingly beautiful Nouveau box design. Heck, if I saw this in a store back in the day, I probably would've taken up smoking on the spot! The tin originally held 100 cigarettes, and though the company itself was originally founded by Greek immigrants, Dimitrios Dimitriou and Ioannis Emmanuelidis in Cairo, Egypt in 1886, I believe this particular tin is actually from 1920's England, even though many online sources (and even the tin itself) claim it's from 1910.

Nude With Moon
A couple of you were asking to see the statue I picked up last week, and here it is. Nothing sums up "art deco" more than a streamlined nude figure engaging in some way with a celestial object. She's about 10 inches high, molded in some kind of composite material, painted gold, and featuring many beautifully formed curves visible from every arresting angle. The face detail is a bit lacking, and there does appear to be a few places of minor repair. None the less, she is absolutely stunning, and another lovely addition to my office collection.

Who Gits the Nex' Shot?
Found a funny 'ol hillbilly themed apron last weekend at an antique mall in El Paso IL featuring some seriously great artwork with lots of very funny details, --and perfect print colors too! So the next time I'm grillin' up some vittles and brewin' some sock squeezins (lol), you can be sure as shootin' that I'll be a'wearin' it! That is, unless the dang 'ol Revenooer drops in!

Vampy the Bat
I was driving up to Wisconsin a few days ago and in a bit of a rush. But as I passed a certain store visible right off the exit I had a peculiar, premonition feeling come over me, so I quickly did a U-turn. Entering this small establishment certainly paid off, and within the first 5 minutes inside I had found an affordably gorgeous nude art deco statue, two different complete decks of 60's adult playing cards (that I surprisingly didn't already have), a super 70's Frederick's of Hollywood catalog, and this gem of a late 50's / early 60's Collegeville Halloween costume-- VAMPY THE BAT! Researching Vampy online shows that Collegeville clearly loved the name of this costume, because they released it over and over again in the following years but with different bat designs. I dig how colorful this one is though, looking more like an evil Japanese demon oni mask than anything else. The frock smock design is pretty cute too, but over the years the glitter coated fabric has become a bit brittle and needless to say, I'm still finding glitter everywhere (and on me even!) 2 days later...
47 days until Halloween!

This Magazine is Crazy
A totally koo-koo assortment of excerpts from the July 1957 issue of This Magazine is Crazy Volume 3 #2. This was Charlton's attempt at doing the wildly popular 'ol MAD Magazine imitation thang, and for the most part it's fairly successful in its own way with the silly satirical spoofs 'n gags, and funny illustrations... unfortunately, the series only lasted 7 short issues.
