--to save the daaay! I've been looking for one of these 1950's Terrytoon soft vinyl squeeze Mighty Mouse toys for a long time, and today was my lucky day! He has a few worn spots on his head, but his cape seems to be in excellent condition, --the only real downside is that he's supposed to make a noise when you squeeze him and this one clearly doesn't no matter how hard I crush his widdle chest! Ah well...
Beautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThis is a really neat detour form the usual Mighty Mouse model. I really kind of like the slimmer, higher head and generally longer body. There's a fastidious quality to his nervously friendly look and the dainty way he's holding his fists that feels complicated, and I've spent several minutes trying to imagine what he's doing, what might going through his head. Honestly, I think there's room for a whole bunch of stories here, but what most satisfies me right now:
ReplyDeleteMM is at the grocery store (you'll have to imagine the cart he's pushing), when he wheels around an end cap and suddenly spies an old high school teacher. Man but he had a big crush on her back then, but it's apparently been a rough ten years since--and at any rate he'd failed her class shamefully in his boyish distraction. Will she remember him if she spots him? Just act natural, MM! Your cape looks great!
Is this off-model or is this a Might Mouse comic/cartoon version I haven't seen? He's much more human like and less mouse like. I like it!
ReplyDeleteHe’s an official Terrytoon toy, the name is stamped on his back under the cape.
ReplyDeleteHe does look like he’s shopping haha, now I need to find him a little cart.
More Mighty Mouse up next!
