Carousel

I'm always looking for interesting ways to display my mannequins, as well as the handful of counter top and wig heads I also have. I see these neat pink, late 60's Carousel cases around occasionally, and finally finding one that wasn't too expensive, grabbed it for one of my vintage wig heads --see how snug as a bug she looks inside of it at the end of the post! But also neat is the magnificent multi-page catalog tucked within the case, featuring a groovy assortment of nicely designed items that Carousel provided back in the day, ie: wigs and a variety of their popular hair care products.

  1. It's fascinating that all the wigs are short (well, at the bottom, some of very bee-hive-ish.) It really speaks to the time that catalog was made!

  2. Awesome! Thank god for people who keep the booklets.

I've been coincidentally watching some wig videos on youtube lately - and some of them glue the wigs on! I had no idea. I don't know if they did that back in the 60s/70s. I know my mom didn't and she wore a wig pretty regularly.

  3. This is a really cool display idea. Not only is it a fascinating peek into vintage wig portability, but it sorta spookily evokes Hannibal Lector's Barbie lunchbox or maybe that scene from Se7en.

  4. Well toss off those those wigs and strap on a rubber bathing cap, we're heading to the beach -- UP NEXT! As always, thanks for the comments :)
