Easter in July!

If you've been lookin' for bunnies everywhere, then you've come to the right place, as AEET celebrates non-summer holidays during the most hellaciously hottest week in July! In our last post we looked at vintage Valentines, now today we have more greeting card fun with some tasty Easter treats, two 60's / 70's cards from Hallmark featuring the cutest artwork that ever hippitty hoppitty'd on down a bunny trail. We also have die-cut windows and doors and shutters and drawers-- oh my! A house full of critters is actually no different than the current state of things around here at Karswell Manor, as just last night I had a freakin' flying squirrel in my basement!

(Interesting how different the scanner colors are vs. my iPhone camera colors, eh?)

***BONUS Easter card!***

  1. Modern iPhone cameras have all sorts of automatic color correction and other crazy stuff going on that scanners just can't compete with. That said it's really to taste.

I like the bonus Easter card a bit better, the top on is cute but the bonus one is full of weird "outsider" type art.

  2. Second card looks to be the work of Jared Lee ("Bummers" from Dynamite Magazine). Is the card from Gibson Greetings?

  3. No, both cards are Hallmark... but yes, that’s probably still Jared, his art is very identifiable

  4. Whoever drew that second one, I like the balloon rabbit feet. But my favorite bunny is probably the one caught eating a sandwich in the closet. I feel ya, friend.

  5. You say "had a flying squirrel in my basement" like it's a bad thing! My squirrels and chipmunks come in the house to get peanuts every day -- there's a drive thru window in the kitchen, and one in my studio! Only the chipmunk is allowed to come in through the door. ;D Super cute card, Mr. Karswell!

  6. @Wendy: Don’t get me wrong, he was super tiny and cute but I don’t ever want a wild critter in my house! He was chewing on the underside panel of the bar, knocked over some collectables, and was eating all the cat food. I finally got him safely back outside last night before my cat finished him.

Thanks for the comments! More holiday highlights up next
