Wandering around a resale shop yesterday and I found this cool old 60’s battery powered cops ‘n robbers GATEWAY CHASE GAME (originally made available back in the day through DX gas stations with an $8 fill-up purchase.) The cars are designed in a neat 40’s gangster noir style and the track and buildings are full of great detail. The instruction booklet has some really fun art as well. But man, the television commercial is the best thing of all, CLICK HERE to check it out!
Man that dad looks bored
ReplyDeleteHe definitely livened up by the next illustration... I'm guessing he just wasn't into putting all those cardboard buildings together-- and I can't say I blame him!
ReplyDeleteI just love a tiny cardboard city.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Mr. Cavzilla just wants to stomp on 'em! ;)
ReplyDeleteKinda! But not if I have to also do all the work it must take to make them first. Luckily, going by the illustration, Gen Xers can't get it right, anyway. It's another one of those things, like programming the VCR and opening childproof bottles, that only the kids can do.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved this as a kid, heck I would love to have this now!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the next generation or two can find time to play with physical toys as well as virtual toys. As a matter of fact, when I go to my local thrift store I see the kids make a beeline for the toy section, dolls, trucks, etc.
Bless the kids who view the whole world around them as a playground and every object as a toy.
