As promised earlier this month, we have more Halloween holiday highlights from Jack and Jill Magazine, and this time from the ominous October 1967 issue! Petrifying poems, scary stories, ghastly games, morbid mask making projects, terrifyingly tasty treats, and more! You've definitely come to the right place if you're still looking for last minute Halloween party ideas, as we'll be scaring up even more Jack and Jill fun in our next post too! See ya in a frightening few...
Ha ha, it's a recipe for Cracker Jacks!
ReplyDeleteI really kind of love the surreal masks that are whole character bodies: "Hi, my face is an entire owl, feet and all" or "My head came to the party as a Cheech Wizard witch." What do you wear as this kind of chimera? I think the best spider costume is that stack of sunglasses. That's really groovy.
Besides that awesome cover, my favorite art here are the crow illustrations. Both the poem and the cold Jack-o-Lantern story give really cool corvidae. Between this and the Al Luster story over at THOIA, it's been a great week for black bird cartoons.
Damn those masks are weird. Imagine a room full of kids with spider web faces and 4 sets of eyes. I glanced at the Halloween Motto, thinking I could bust it out real quick, but it was too complicated for my pea brain. But man that calendar is fab!! I love it! Esp the girl and dog looking up at the vase of dried weeds. That's so dang cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat art and just all around awesome fun. Thank you so much for sharing. Hope your Halloween was wonderful.
