When it's early May, you know we're at the halfway mark to Halloween, so here are some halloweenie highlights from not one, but two October issues of 70's Jack and Jill ('77 and '78.) Full of fun artwork and activities, spooky stories, and recipes, not to mention a TON of bats 'n cats and wicked 'ol witches. Eeeeek! And get ready, because in October I'll be posting the '79 and '80 Jack and Jill Halloween issues too! Boo!
I think my favorite art this time around is the "Good Games" page from the '77 issue. I love pictures of kids in costume. I also really dig on Kevin Horenek's OG Dracula rap in the poetry section. And man am I ever trying to keep from making dirty jokes about those party games in '78.
ReplyDeletePS, I hope you're planning on posting the answer pages this time. Because I didn't figure a hundred percent of these out.
Haha, I think I’ll give you some more time to figure them out, Mr C— answers will be posted on Halloween!
ReplyDeleteJack and Jill Halloween thrills, its so appropriate this month, in fact every month!
ReplyDeleteSomeone once suggested that St Patrick's Day should be celebrated every month, if that ever happens then Halloween should follow suit.
Thanks for the pre All Hallows treat, Karswell.
Ok - I love these Jack and Jill mags. The puzzles and games are so cute and I want to party right along with those kids ice-cream-soda slurping, costumed kids, but I'm freaking out right now because the top cover very clearly says Donny and Marie above Jack and Jill, but there are no pics or even a mention of Donny and Marie in here anywhere! Why???? WHY??????
ReplyDeleteFun stuff. Can't wait for September 1st, then the next two months can sloooooooow down.
