A pair of cute, early 80's Halloween air fresheners from Wizard, each containing a bottom label warning for adults to inform children that though this wacky witch and scrumptious skeleton might look tasty, they are most certainly just sculpted hunks of fragrant wax and are absolutely NOT TO BE EATEN! Yes, nearly 4 decades old and they are still very much potent with a strong festive scent-- plus the skeleton still glows in the dark too!
Cool pieces. That witch is super adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I'd probably be tempted to eat that skeleton. It looks like sugar candy. But what does it smell like? I mean, if these were Christmas air fresheners, I guess I could imagine the scent of pine or maybe peppermint. I could imagine that rummy vanilla eggnog smell. But Halloween stuff is an altogether more difficult olfactory character to pin down. Pumpkin pie allspice would make sense, I guess. Um, candy corn? Latex? Graveyard dirt?
ReplyDeleteSort of a spicy faux cheap perfume smell, it's not great, (maybe at one time it was), but it's not bad either. I kind of thought the skeleton looked like white chocolate
ReplyDeleteMaybe they look like marzipan ladled over salt licorice? What the heck, I'd eat that too. Actually, I kind of wish they smelled like that.
ReplyDeleteThe witch looks like the orange you find on candy corn, the skeleton the white found on candy corn. No wonder the makers put the warning on the bottom 'Not to be eaten.'
ReplyDeleteSo therein lies the challenge for those with a culinary flair-can these Halloween air fresheners be reproduced in edible form? It might be a rush job to make edible versions with All Hallows so close.
Sadly, my cooking talents involve 'open the package' and 'turn on the microwave', I lack the skill to attempt candy creations of this sort. Perhaps a follower of this blog can duplicate these two in candy or chocolate form and report their results.
Awww. Anything that glows in the dark is ok by me!
ReplyDeleteAir fresheners for Halloween? Hope they smell of pumpkin and not wet graveyard! Great looks in any case.
ReplyDeleteIt says "NOT TO BE EATEN". Doesn't say anything about not licking it.
