We always try our hardest to get everyone into the Halloween spirit around here, and usually we start way earlier than this, but this year-- well-- this year has been a bitch. But that doesn't mean we can't finally, and officially, get this All Hallow's party started! And let's make it an Eerie Evening Party too, with a little help from our double J friends who always seem to know how to make the best decorations and masks, and which games are the most fun to play! And we're going to need some tasty treats for you tricksters as well! (Jack and Jill, Oct. 1969.)
MORE FROM THIS ISSUE UP NEXT!
You always find the coolest stuff Karswell.
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing you and all fans of 'And Everything Else Too' and 'The Horrors of It All' a safe and fun All Hallows Eve/Halloween/Samhain/Goblin Gobble Up Candy Evening (I made up the last one but it is appropriate for the bestest holiday of the year.)
Thanks for posting this one - I had it as a very small kid back in the 60's and loved it.
ReplyDeleteThanks JMR! You've been onboard here for quite a few Halloweens, I remember! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd more coming up from this issue, Joe! Glad to have ya at the AEET party as well!
Fantastic. Man I wish there was a fat coffee table collection of all this Jack and Jill Halloween stuff. Or as much of it as possible. I guess there have been nearly seventy-five years of this mag, and each one of them had a (nearly) fully dedicated Halloween issue in October. So, maybe two seven-hundred page volumes of party instructions and groovy haunted trick-or-treat art? Somebody tell Taschen I'd buy that.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I'll just add it to the dream file, along with the ten-disc Blu-ray box set of yearly Halloween specials from classic television shows I've always wanted to see.
Sign me up for the Taschen and bluray box sets as well!
ReplyDeleteAwww. That's the cutest eerie party I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteI love those do it yourself mints. For some reason when I try to make them they never taste all that great. Maybe I'll try them again this year. And dip them in melted choc!
Oh! Halloween recipes! I love! There was something simple and unpretentious about celebrating Halloween as a child then.
