I was saving this booklet for our usual "Christmas in July" fun, but then realized that it's not really all that xmassy except for a few assorted moments, and of course there's plenty of you out there that could use a drink all the time, or any 'ol time, errrrrr... so anyway-- here we go! And per the norm (since I'm not a drinker), I'm skipping most of the actual boozer recipe stuff, and instead focusing on the various awesome key art (by illustrator / art director, Ed Scott), which is generously sprinkled throughout this neato Elmer's Town-Line Liquors catalog from 1959.
So what'a ya waitin' for? Pick up the phone already and dial Victor 7-9777 --and bottom's up!
Well, as a drinker, I am not sure I'm on board with this nineteen fifties selection of booze (I've never even heard of this brand!), or really any calendar with only only ten drunken mascots. But I do love love love that car in the tenth scan! And also that full moon, which I assume is the drunken mascot for October....
ReplyDeleteSo cool! They're all neat - but I really love the illus on the Cocktail Recipes page with the glasses with suspended ice cubes and olives. That one martini glass looks like it has a miniature ham floating in it though :)
ReplyDeleteThe lady on the phone is super cute too!
Booze-y women in sailboat themed yellow jumpers are sexy. Yes, my fetish is specific!
ReplyDeleteLet Yogi Bear have his pick-a-nic basket full of food, I'll settle for the two baskets full of cheer. Liquid lunch anyone?
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing illustrations!
ReplyDeleteI can't help wondering who the model is. Even though it's someone else, she has a sort of Susan Hayward look.
