Jack and Jill 1968
I was only 6 months old when this issue of Jack and Jill hit the magazine racks in October of 1968. And just as we've seen from all of our previous J&J posts here at AEET (check the archive), this issue is just as loaded as ever with fun and games and creepy crafts and even a spooky story! Lots of super cute artwork this time around as well... I even have another J&J issue later for you this month too! And hey kids, pay special close attention to the "Be Sure It's Safe" page-- you seriously don't want to get killed on Halloween --especially before you get a chance to eat all that delicious candy!!!

Creature Crunch vs. Bridal Bits Cereal
If you follow me on Facebook, you already saw these when I first posted them a few weeks ago. I'm like a lot of you and love sugary sweet breakfast cereals, but I have spent a lifetime frustrated by the fact that the two greatest Universal movie horrors of them all, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Bride of Frankenstein, never received their own monster cereal flavor along side Count Chocula, Frankenberry, BooBerry, Fruit Brute, and Yummy Mummy! So I opened up photoshop and I decided to do something about it.
I'll have a few more of these for you later this month as well, in the meantime give 'em a vote, or vote for both flavors-- even if you don't eat cereal you know you'd wanna add these boxes to your collection of fun monster food stuff!

The Ultimate Horror Movie: Arbor Day
Real horror-heads watch scary films all year 'round, 666 days a year-- and I've been seeing a lot of people doing a so-called "31 Days of Horror" or whatever where they watch a horror movie every single day throughout the entire month of October. So okay fine, but still, no matter what you watch, nothing will compare to the Jack Davis holiday themed, murder massacre-piece, "Arbor Day" from the Dec. '81 issue of Mad #227. If this one doesn't kill you (or make you laugh), you're DEFINITELY already dead. (FYI: yes I know I've been posting stuff here that I originally posted at THOIA, I'm getting caught up scanning TONS of stuff for later this month-- so gimme a break!!!)

Chilly & Grim Terror Horror Weirdness!
AEET kicks off the month of October with a handful of Halloween posts featuring spooky chills and terrifying thrills to get you into the mood-- and what better way to do it than to take a few tips from Mr. Karswell's other blog, THE HORRORS OF IT ALL! In the 1950's, Standard Comics had a fun way to pad out their precode horror titles (see Adventures into Darkenss, Out of the Shadows, and The Unseen) with funny filler gags and puzzling mazes. Here's a few from the THOIA archive!
