Fun activity pages from Gold Key's Golden Comics Digest: Bugs Bunny Halloween Hulla-Boo-Loo #26 from November 1972. Games, puzzles, jokes, and a few very "off model" illustrations to laugh and shake your head at, these digest sized comic collections were always a blast to get when I was a kid-- and over 150 pages for only 50 cents, you were definitely getting your money's worth!
Love it! I question how many kids knew that was Owl Jolson in the Granny Guest Guesser puzzle.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you said something, Tom-- I wasn't sure of the answer myself!
ReplyDeleteHa, me neither. Luckily, I just guessed, based on the fact that the character was an owl (even though Loony Tunes tradition would usually lead one to assume that "Owl" was the dude's last name). Tricky.
ReplyDeleteNeat stuff!
"I love to sing-a" :)
ReplyDeleteI'm really bothered by the off-model Foghorn Leghorn!
that Foghorn Leghorn page is my fave! i love puzzles like that. i only found 16 of the 18 faces though :(
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite page is the Ghostly Grins jokes, love the lettering and the slick illos... they should've put liberty spikes on the ghost under the punk joke though!
ReplyDeleteArt on the Ghostly Grins, Foghorn, Tweety, Elmer, and Sniffles by Vic Lockman. Can't help you on the rebus story or the others, but GCD thinks they could be by Ken Champin.
