We're still in snack mode here at AEET, and nothing beats gobbling piles of delicious xmas treats! Allllllll aboooooard! Actually, it looks like the elf pirates are taking us not on a train, but up into the hot air balloon heights of cookie heaven! Man, how cute is everything here, from the cookies to the cut-out characters and dolls-- thank you early 60's Family Circle Magazine, aka Helps for the Holiday, 1962... every lil fun thing on these pages is a wonderful work of art :)
Man I love illustrative photography like this. Actually making characters most people would just draw, and then doing the work to fit them into tableaux, to light and shoot them, is really going that extra mile. Plus completely ethical drop-shadows!
ReplyDeleteAre those actually animal cracker rats above the bunnies in scan six's blue Christmas tree? I love rat cookies. I like the sheep a lot, too; but it's nice to see some non-exotic, non-zoo animals for a change.
Agreed! And I'd definitely prefer eating teeny fish sugar cookies over Goldfish crackers, any ol day!
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that yesterday's Doughnut Snowmen post also came from this same issue of Family Circle Magazine
Cool! I love the genuinely cute and happy clowns too!
ReplyDeleteAnd they're not scary clowns either, hurray!!!
