I Dream of Eden

A handful of perfectly posed and candidly cute pictures of actress Barbara Eden from the November 1969 issue of Saga Vol. 39 No. 2... TV's magically gorgeous star of I Dream of Jeannie was photographed during her brief stint in Chicago performing at the College Inn in preperation for her own upcoming Las Vegas nightclub act. Barbara is right up there with some of my earliest childhood crushes: Fay Wray, Julie Adams, Hiroko Sakurai... for obvious reasons, I've also included a Harem Jamas ad as featured in the back of the same magazine.

  1. Oh yeah, I'd say photo number two up there is especially magical. I love love love Barbara Eden. It's impossible to say enough about her comedic ability and her preternatural timing. She was at the very tip-top of the game, right up there with Lucille Ball.

    1. Totally agree! Dr Lao and Harper Valley PTA also helped seal it. She was quite the fab dramatic actress as well, two of my favorite made for tv films "The Woman Hunter" and "Howling in the Woods" are perfect examples.

  3. She always seemed to be a beautiful person within as well as without. I felt grief for her when her son lost his battle with drug addiction.

  4. I can't even imagine how awful that must have been for her :(

  5. Watching Jennie as a young boy, every time Barbara Eden, dressed in her "haram jamas" called Captain Nelson "Master," I sensed a world of women soon to be within my reach. And she was named "Eden" for God's sake, which made her overpowering appeal mythical - even primal.

  6. The EXACT reason for me why watching this show was always so frustrating because "Master" never seemed to take advantage of his "situation." Still, I agree whole heartedly, Myk!
