Everyone's favorite poor little rich boy meets a jolting Jekyll and Hyde scenario in this freaky fun concoction from the April 1972 issue of Harvey Comics' Giant SizeRichie Rich Success Stories #43. Golly, where's Little Dot when we need her?!!
the story is cute but man i freaking love looking at those ads. even though ive seen them a million time i can't stop staring at them. i always wanted the onion gum for some reason but now i'm really intrigued by that 7 dollar battery operated 8mm projector. man i'd love to see that in action.
When I was a kid, up till eleven or so, this is the stuff I was most likely to have been reading most days. I got my comics off the Hey Kids spinner at the cheaper, edge-of-town grocery store's check-out aisle, and they would have been black and white super-sized digest reprints of these awesome Harley* Comics stories. Richie was one of my faves!
Is it me, or is the figure drawing here--especially on Reggie--very Aragones-esque? Check out those undifferentiated legs/shoes.
Yeah the line work is a lot looser and more organic than the typical bold Harvey character style for sure, it is sort of smacking of Aragones, you're right
The artist sure made Richie Rich look like Mr. Hyde all right. I would not have guessed they would make him look so gruesome, he looks like one of the monsters you would see in a pre code tale.
