Fun photo highlights from Alcoa's Book of Decorations (1959 / Aluminum Company of America and Artists and Writers Press, Inc.), featuring foil decorations created by Conny von Hagen-- she definitely has some cute 'n clever uses for aluminum foil to add a touch of surprisingly surreal radiance to your parties, holidays, and playtime. In our next post we'll see what else she had up her sleeve for foil animals, small stage productions, and even Halloween costumes!
(to be continued...)
Whoa. That's some very spooky outsider art right there. Usually, in do-it-yourself craft books--from crochet to origami, even cooking--I'm used to seeing a display of almost unobtainable examples. Nobody's Halloween cupcakes look quite as pristine as the ones you might drool over in Redbook; nobody folds a perfect dinosaur skeleton the first time. That is not a problem here, though. The bar is set pretty low for wadding up a Reynolds wrap pirate hat. Even still, I'm surprised they didn't put the polka-dot puppy on the cover. I wonder how many units that creepy candy-striped rooster moved?
ReplyDeleteBut I sure do love that spaceman! Can't wait for more Halloween costumes.
rooster? i thought it was an osterich or a road runner...with skeleton teeth.
ReplyDeletei love the little choir people! so cute!
and i love that the outdoor party photoshoot was done on a really overcast, dreary day.
and the food shop!
You're both wrong, it's not a rooster or an ostrich-- it's Phyllis Diller!
ReplyDeletewith skeleton teeth?

ReplyDeleteI said it in a Phyllis Diller voice made of tin foil.
