Antique Cherub Mantle Clock

Found this gorgeous old mantle clock last week for next to nothing, and knowing equally nothing about clocks, I set out to research it via the Googles. Discovering many in the same, awesomely ornate nouveau era style (cherub clocks seemed to be quite popular back then) but found none fitting this exact design, unfortunately, it's made of metal, and seriously weighs a ton for it's smallish size. The clock mechanism doesn't seem to work anymore, (as if it's wound too tight or something), but overall condition for the rest of the piece seems to be perfect. I thought maybe the bent arrow was an issue, but I did find some other similar old clocks online which also display the arrow in the manner. Speaking of the arrow, and with Valentine's Day right around the corner, I guess this makes my cute little cherub actually Cupid, eh?

Love Song

Another very old mechanical Valentine from my collection, this time with a banjo babe strummin' 'n pluckin' up some holiday lovin' as she sways her cute lil red head back 'n forth, beltin' out her ever-lastin', hopeful, and harmonious lyrics...

My Private Black Book (PART ONE) ADULTS ONLY!!!

Organized in a way to keep track of all your specific communication wants and needs, this fun little black (telephone) book is also full of attractive 1950's - 60's nudie cuties from all around the alphabet! Yes, A-Z at your fingertips never looked so appealing, and we'll take a look at the first 12 in todays post. So what will it be tonight? Games with Beth? Photos with Harriet? Pettin' the Kitty, or maybe just helping poor Gail out with whatever it is exactly that's ailing her. (FYI: Miss "C" is actually English actress / model Margaret Nolan, star of many a Carry On and British boobie film.) So stay tuned, I'll have more pretties for you in our next post HERE, as well as additional places for specific notation found in the little black book back pages.

Let's Play Valentines

January here at AEET looked more like THOIA with all of Mr. Karswell's funeral related projects and curiosities. So now with February being the month of love 'n cutes 'n woots 'n pa-tooties, let's get out the colorful old vintage Valentines and smooch things into gear with a magnificently masked mechanical munchkin from 1931-- yes, the same year that Frankenstein and Dracula were released to theaters! [Sorry! --Mr. K] The arm swings down, removing the mask to reveal the adorable cherub face beneath. Ain't she sweet? Personally signed "From Miss Amy" on the back, along with the original date to prove I ain't jokin'. Lots more from my personal vintage Valentine collection is on the way all this month-- along with a little bit of everything else, too!

Enter the Esco Distinctive Embalming Fluid Bottle

Things turned kinda caskety around here this month, so let's now inject AEET with something a little more preservingly juicy via this vintage 16 ounce Esco Distinctive Embalming Fluid bottle that I picked up the other day. Online sources say the equally distinctive, square, art deco designed glass container actually dates anywhere from the 1930's through the 50's, and after spending nearly a half hour cleaning the thing, (which initially looked like it had accidentally been buried 6 feet under with a cadaverous client for nearly a century), I'm definitely leaning more towards the oldest date possible. In an ironic turn of events, the embossed numbers and lettering, not to mention the ominously lovely stone and leaf work on all sides, now pops a bit more "alive" than it did at the antique store, thanks to the wonders of Goo-Gone and warm water.
