Terrific board, card, and box illustrations (by who??) highlight "WHY - A Mystery Game Presented by Alfred Hitchcock" a frighteningly fun game from Milton Bradley ('58) that actually one-ups most other spooky board games by including old Alfred himself into the action! I could go into great detail explaining the object of it all, but you can just as easily read what it says on the box below, (and to be honest, it's not really as fun as it looks) --but man, you gotta love the ghost imagery and those hilarious player piece detectives!

Survival
Here are just a few highlights from an Atomic / H-Bomb survival guide book, published in 1956 by the Walsworth Brothers of Marceline, MO (as well as the Federal Civil Defense Administration.) This 150 page+ booklet covers every aspect of a huge scale attack, and teaches you, Mr. Average Citizen, how to not only prepare and survive, but also how to help out after the Earth's been officially obliterated. So don't be a lazy bum, play it smart, check out the Critical TARGET AREAS map (below) ...because in a world where there's only two kinds of people left, do you want to be one who needs help, or one who helps?

Oster Holiday Ideas '63
And you thought I was bluffing in our last post with all that "Xmas in July" jazz, eh? Well, we're not gonna spend the whole summer steamin' up the mistletoe, just a few fun posts during the hottest time of the year to remind you, of course, that xmas is always. right. around. the. corner. ugh. So anyway, here are some crafty ideas, planned and designed (by John Oster Manufacturing Co.) to "take advantage of readily available materials" that happen to be lying around your house. In other words, if you're a penny pinchin', skinflint, Scroogeroo during the holidays, then doll-up some stuff with string or toothpicks, old soap, or a plant pot. Yes sir, being a cheapskate doesn't mean that you also have to be a bad designer... and these are just a few of the highlights inside this truly neat booklet from 1963.
