We're setting the table (sans turkey) for the big tasty holiday feast today, and I do believe we have all of the other highly important, nutritional food groups covered here: delivery, hot 'n cold, vending machine, can or coffin, and lastly-- veggies! We all need our vegetables now, don't we? But anyway, yeah, these are fun candy containers from my childhood (some still containing some very petrified gum and hard candy) --and fyi: I have another big batch of them to share with you all next month as well, so stay hungry for that. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving today, too!

When I started scrolling through these pictures all I could think about was Mr. Bones and how much I loved those compacted bits of sugar, and lo and behold ... Mr. Bones!
That made my thanksgiving!
Though those look a bit ... moldy! A very horror comic skeleton at this point!
Yeah, you need to put those moldering Bones back together into a portrait.
Definitely Mr. Bones is my favorite candy here, though a bit less Thanksgiving related, I guess. I also had plenty of those trash cans as a kid, too--but none with Chicklets in 'em. I'd sure miss the hard sugar tennis shoes, soda bottles, and fish bones, but Chicklets are pretty good too. I remember the veggies, especially the carrot and the corn, but I don't recall ever buying them.
I thought the modern day four food group consists of salt, sugar, additives and preservatives, at least the fast food industry thinks so.
I really love the candy containers of days gone by, a bit of great ephemera of carefree days of my youth.
I remember the garbage cans, but I seem to remember them containing sweet tarts in the shape of various garbage.
