Ventura Sun Glasses Display

Finally got my hands on one of these 1960's Ventura Sunglasses cardboard, gas station counter displays (never used too!) yesterday. Great design, simply color usage, and a gorgeous bikini babe to really help sell the product! I’ll post more pix once I fill the left side up with some actual vintage shades —and of course please note that I would absolutely never cover up that girl! Also, as long as we're filling up at the gas station and getting supplies, it never hurts to grab some tunes. And what's this? A generic Alice Cooper 8-track hits collection! Totally nailing that shock-rock horror package vibe he's so famous for too, haha...

  1. So the hole in the sun's "eye" is obviously a spot for a sunglass in the display but frankly it looks like he's winking at the woman! I wouldn't put a pair in that slot, either!

Again, I'm always surprised about how well these paper products have held up.

What's the track listing on the "hits of Alice Cooper?"

  3. This is what happens when experimental Czech animators get album cover commissions. Or maybe they thought they were doing a Lou Reed cover--I guess those could be Mok's back-up singers.

Can't wait to see what the sunglasses stand looks like with vintage shades. I honestly think it would look pretty nice if you filled 'er all the way up--there'd be a kind of peek-a-boo element that's missing once you can see her suit.

  4. Finding these paper items is an unexpected, but pleasant surprise.

There are those who search for lost media in the form of lost movies, forgotten video and VHS recordings, but paper media tends to be overlooked by searchers.

You have the knack for finding paper and cardboard items that would otherwise never be seen again.

That Alice Cooper tape is a great find, though finding a working 8 track player to see how it plays is the next challenge.
