Vampirella Aurora Monster Scenes

Wanted one of these Aurora kits my whole life, and here we finally go 40+ years later, and yep, I can't believe it! Okay, I'm missing the box, but other than that she's complete, and just sort of temporarily snapped together at this point so I could take pix to show everyone. Eventually she will be glued and painted and ready to do what Vampirella does best (and if I need to explain any further, then you clearly don't know Vampirella very well!) My scanner is acting goofy so I'll post the comic and instructions insert another time, but for now enjoy this 1/13th scale version from 1971 of Drakulon's most famous femme fatale-- the one, the only-- VAMPIRELLA!

  1. "Eventually she will be glued AND PAINTED..." *makes another dramatic flourish* Thank you. ;D

  2. Is she scaled to be mixed in with other Aurora monster kits? They're a little before my time so I'm only passingly familiar with them.

  3. OK, from all the decades I've seen that art, I've never know if that is supposed to be a scar or a mis-colored chunk of hair on the mad scientist's head! And can I have a saber-toothed dog sized bat?

Modelling is pretty good -- she seems a bit younger in the face, but it's pretty spot on most on! That's not easy.

  4. That's one incredibly sexy model. I seem to recall reading somewhere that there were complaints about her showing too much cleavage, resulting in her attire being modified somewhat. And didn't Polar Lights or Moebius reissue this kit some years ago? It's taken me 40-odd years (and more) to acquire (or replace) items I wanted (or had) when I was a kid, so I share your joy.

  5. Very nice! Never saw this out of the package or the art. Looks pretty well made.

  6. I think she already looks pretty great M.U.S.C.L.E.-colored!

  7. Nice. A co-worker of mine had a Vampi figure on his desk. Our manager's wife visited the office one day and was so offended that she fashioned a gown of tissue paper to cover the lass's plastic flesh.

  8. In this day and age Vampirella would be viewed as dressing quite conservatively, almost prudish!

Its great that you had a chance to scratch, or claw off, one more thing on your buy someday list, Karswell.

  9. Thanks for all the great comments, and remember to check back for updates whenever I actually get started on this thing (I do have a game plan for her and it's a bit unique to how most people paint her.)

So many projects... so little time... ya know
