The Making of Phantasm

Exciting news lately for Phantasm phans like myself, as the original philm in the series is getting the Blu-Ray remaster treatment finally (the sequels are also getting full HD restorations), PLUS the long awaited 5th philm in the series, Phantasm: Ravager, is finally getting theatrically released later this year as well. Whew! Yes, this is definitely not just a dream! And seriously, now it's my turn to say "I've been waiting for you!" You can read everything about it HERE! And to celebrate this phantasmic news, we'll be time traveling back to the 70's and taking a look at where all of the eternal Tall Man's shape shifting, head drilling, body dwarfing, embalming terror started, from one of the very earliest articles that I can remember about the original classic, as featured in Fangoria #2 from 1979-- "BOYYYYY!!!"

  1. Awesome! Thanks for the article and the heads-up on that upcoming Blu-ray. I just screened Coscarelli's Kenny & Co. for the first time a couple of months ago, and I totally loved it. Looking forward to Phantasm V.

  2. Phantasm - the first film was a masterpiece in and of itself.

The Phantasm series of films were not overdone as other horror franchise films were, at least I like to think so.

Phantasm RaVager, the long awaited and anticipated installment, perhaps it will be the last one, since no one can ever fill the shoes (or the suit) of the tall man Angus Scrimm.

  3. I'm glad a few of you chimed in on this post... I sometimes feel like I'm the only Phantasm phan in the world! RIP Angus Scrimm, can't wait to see his final role as The Tall Man!

  4. Sometimes I don't post comments when looking at all the neat stuff you post, but that doesn't mean I don't really appreciate your hard work in finding and posting this great stuff.

I know what you mean by wondering if anyone is seeing this stuff, I feel that way when I post things on Deviantart. Is anybody looking at my work?

Anyway, don't get discouraged, Karswell. Sometimes visitors to this site have nothing to say but do appreciate all the things you find. The same goes with The Horrors Of It All, love the posts, just don't always have much to say, but Thank You for your hard work and great finds!

Angus Scrimm has joined the greats of horror, namely Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, and any I might have forgotten. They no longer are with us in the flesh but will be with us in our nightmares forever, immortals all!
