Horror-Heroes

REMCO'S Count Dracula, Wolfman, and Frankenstein('s Monster) put a real chill up the spine of this Montgomery Ward's christmas catalog from 1980. Clutching action and glow-in-the-dark heads and hands made this the "must have" toy set of the season for monster kids everywhere! 9 inch tall vinyl figures with real cloth costumes, each one came with an iron-on patch as well. There were actually 6 dolls in all, including The Mummy, The Phantom of the Opera, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon too! Frankie even had a "Monsterizer" lab table accessory for zapping some life into him (sold separately!) Check google for more because the packaging art is spectacular.

  4. Brian, these were very much dolls, you're thinking of REMCO's Mini Monsters (released the same year), those were more action figure sized

  5. 'tiz a joke Karswell, the old making fun of a nerd by calling his action figures "dolls." But, now that you mention it, I want to rebuild my Mego collection I had when I was a kid.

    Goes to eBay.

    Uh, no.

  6. Dang I wish I owned all of this. Not for nothing, I also wish there had been Bride and Dr. Frankenstein dolls to complete the James Whale playset. And modern toy makers should make me a box of Dwight Frye figures including every role he did in the thirties (I'd especially enjoy having a Wilmer Cook toy). Thanks in advance, elves.

  7. I approve a Dwight Frye doll / figure for sure! Also, how about a line of Hammer Horror gals dolls / figures? And also a Barbara Steele doll collection of her in all of her many characters.

  8. Dracula always disturbed me due to his 70's tuxedo sweatshirt top. Frankenstein and Wolfman are the best. The Creature had on his Creature pajamas and they looked cool on him. I remember buying two of them when they ended up at Kay-Bee Toy stores for $1.97.
