TERROR BLU: Il Figlio Delle Stelle

***ADULTS ONLY!!!*** Why are women found everywhere spread eagle, and gazing trance-like towards the sky? ANSWER: An alien race has begun impregnating them from above via space beam, --and good lord *choke!* the results are much more horrific than the white haired, glowing eyed children from Village of the Damned! Il Figlio Delle Stelle (Children of the Stars?) comes from the pages of the infamous Terror Blu fumetti series published in Italy in the 70's. I'm not learned enough with the language to figure out who the artist is here, but I've narrowed down the 100+ page story to just 20 scans of coherent "highlights", --which, combined with my own guesswork synopsis should make it fairly easy for you to look at the pictures and follow along with just the nauseating action alone, (if you can't read it either.) In between these pages is a bit more murder, masked rape, and other assorted repulsive shenanigans, but you're not really missing much... if anyone has additional info or insight on this story, please comment-- thanks!

  1. Hi K,
I'm Italian, loved those comics back in the day, and totally enjoy your posts. If you ever have any questions about plot or content, I'll do my best to help you, just drop me a line.

  4. What can we follow up an issue of Jack and Jill with? How about Italian Funnetti? I love the neck-snapping turns this blog does!

It seems that "ahhhhh", the universal scream of stomach ripping x-ray alien babies is universal!

  5. My favorite sound effect is "STRAP!" while ripping off a shirt... followed by the stomach exploding "BAROM!"

  6. And here I thought Italian giallos were hard to figure out.

  7. Wow, far out. That gets right down to the nitty gritty. Somebody give that alien baby a bath.

  10. I applaud your Reader's Digest approach - squishing it down to a tasty bite size piece. Not that you would ever see this sort of thing in said periodical.
    Warped, disgusting stuff.
    More please.

  11. Hi. I understand you have an insane interest in the 70's-80's italian "per adulti" comics.
You chose a very "hard", almost "slasher" one for your post, but we had a wide variety of such comics, covering almost every taste of young schoolboys customers of that era, from horror to parodies, from gore to comedy. Comparable to Japanese hentai in this sense.
Most of them were published by Renzo Barbieri's "Edifumetto-edizioni Squalo" (whose trademark was a shark). Some fine artists like Milo Manara (somewhat overrated in my opinion) began their careers working for him. One of my favorite authors, Magnus (Roberto Raviola) created for him the hilarious adventures of "Necron", a corpse revived by the necrophiliac scientist Frieda Boher. I didn't like "Terror blu" because its "slasher" feeling was not mitigated by any humoristic tidbits as in other similar comics like “Biancaneve”. It was as you say, lurid and nauseating, an believe it or not, I was a sensitive kid. Terror blu lasted from 1976 to 1994, I found the complete (I guess) list of stories and artists on a French site:

  12. The comics I liked most (relying on my memory) were those drawn by the underrated Leone Frollo: Lucifera, Yra the Vampress and, especially, Biancaneve (a famous Snow White "adaptation" that lasted many years). Frollo could have started a wonderful career in the States, if only he had the chance to work for Warren or Marvel (he was inspired by J. Buscema in the Seventies).
Here is a summarized, mnemonic list of "worthy" comics :
"Biancaneve" (Edifumetto) = "Snow white" [Fantasy. Gory but somewhat hilarious]
"Sexy favole" (Edifumetto): Adaptations of classic fairy tales.
"Oltretomba" = "Beyond the grave": Horror [not so "hard" and well conceived , almost like a Warren magazine. Almost.] This was published by Ediperiodici, founded by Barbieri and Giorgio Cavedon, then acquired by Cavedon. Barbieri then founded Edifumetto and the two became harsh competitors.
"Lando" (Edifumetto): comedic - satiric. The spicy adventures of a guy who's got ... huh ... three balls, that's it.
"Belzeba" (Edifumetto): the story of an hermaphrodite demon from hell.
"Pig" (Ediperiodici, 1984): comedy-horror, the adventures of a "were-pig", a pig headed guy who has to have sex on a regular basis, else he will turn into a regular pig.
"Zora la vampira" (Edifumetto): horror. The adventures of a lesbian vampiress.
"Il Tromba" (Edifumetto): Comedy. The sex adventures of a smart soldier (you say "private"?). Sort of an hardcore Beetle Bailey.
"Il camionista" (Edifumetto): satiric, the story of a truck driver with the face of popular actor Lando Buzzanca...
And many, many, many more. Those comics sold like bread until the nineties.
They are not be confused with the "Fumetti neri" (Diabolik, Kriminal, Satanik, etc.) that predated them and are more similar to the italian Giallo movie.
    Whew! Thanks.
