Xmas in July, Day 17: Buck-A-Roo vs. Showdown Sam

The object of Buck-A-Roo was the same as the JAWS game, but in reverse, pile it up instead of take it off... while Showdown Sam definitely fills my inner Westworld needs to battle an evil, lawless robotic gun slinger! So yeah, what every kid wants for xmas the most-- TOYS TOYS TOYS!!! that fight back! (Sears Xmas Wish Book, '76)

  1. I remember Buck-a-roo though I don't recall seeing Showdown Sam in my youth. I wonder how long Showdown Sam was made or available for kids in 1976?

  2. I don't remember either of these, but I was totally the market for them. I always loved the median between toys and three-D board games (like these, the aforementioned Jaws, Operation, Rock-Em Sock-Em Robots, etc.). Veeery clever!

  4. I was just talking about Buck-A-Roo the other day when I saw one at an antique mall... I either had one or somebody I knew did back in the day. Or maybe I just remember the commercial for it.

So is everyone liking Xmas in July here this month? We're more than halfway to the end of the month, just curious if we should keep it going as is, or head back to regular AEET post style. Let me know!

  5. I am totally digging Christmas in July (as well as this style of single-subject posting that almost looks like a Tumblr gallery). That said, I'm going on vacation Saturday morning and I won't be around much again till August. So I don't feel like my opinion carries all that much weight.

    Welp. See you in August!

  7. Alright then, we'll keep it going-- even though Mr C is going on vacation! Have a great trip, everything will still be here when you get back, of course!
