Come to Our Barbecue

As the intro states, James A. Beard was mid century America's leading authority on outdoor charcoal cooking (my preferred method as well!) And with his help, this handy little booklet published by the Taylor Wine Company in 1958 has many fine-tuned 'n tested recipes to make your BBQ exceptionally tasty-- I'm trying out the Lusty Barbecue Sauce recipe this weekend on pork chops-- and if you also like cute illustrations of food and condiments with faces and happy people marinatin' up some fun, then this is your deviled day! COME TO OUR BARBEQUE!!

    1. I like that they even gave the baguette a face, you hardly never seen bread smiling ever.

And how about the kabob? No face but he's got lil arms!

  2. yeah - the kabob is way cute! and the bread. any food with faces (or just lil arms) i love. or any kitchen implement of any kind! i love the bottle that's holding the chef's hat too!

you gotta do an update with how the bbq sauce comes out. that Cinnamon Chick recipe looks pretty good to me. i might have to try that soon!

  3. Anthropomorphization is always welcome. I like the bottles. I like to imagine their slightly unacceptable smokey mesquite, and hot sauce, and besotted wino voices, etc., in raucous conversation like the toon bullets from Roger Rabbit.
