The Wine in Your Life

There's gotta be a few winos out there that follow this blog, and if so, I've scanned a variety of aged wine booklets (5 to be exact) all dated from around the 50's and 60's, and oh so graciously put them into one big post for you to douse yourself in all of their recipe and artistic splendor. Seriously beautiful illustrations and lettering styles here, and tons of bright and gay suggestions for your future booze-a-thons too-- just please please remember to eat and drink responsibly!

  1. wow - these are really cool! i really love all the glasses with ice cubes! and the groovy mug on the very last page.

that Pineapple Cheese Pie Muscatel sounds kinda good - but the Cheese Salad Ring is a little horrifying. and i'm a total sucker for Cheese-Nut Balls!

  2. Anything you make in a pound cake mold is kind of ugly-sexy. Salad loaf? It's so prurient that it comes out the other side as kind of exciting. Again, everything like that needs to translucent enough to light from the inside....

I really like the art in the Punches & Other Mixed Drinks book the best, though all that two-color stuff at the end is pretty great, too.

  3. As many of you know I don't drink, but I am of course very interested in comments from anyone trying out some of the more exotic food concoctions here (Sherried Tuna-Rarebit Sandwich Spread??)
