Dandy Candy

Dandy Candy is a great kid's card game from the 50s? 60s? that almost qualifies as a xmas card game thanks to the inclusion of candy canes and gingerbread men, and featurin' cute 'n expertly illustrated food 'n candy 'n drinks with bright little faces dancin' across an interestin' set of die-cut cards that are "shaped to fit the hands." Whatever the game rules require, it seems a better object here is to obviously say "lay down" as many times as possible in the directions so that it reads like a drinkin' game, or in this case-- an eatin' game (everytime someone says "lay down" while readin' the back of the box directions out loud, you bite off the face of say a gumdrop or a cookie.) Another fun face eatin' game would be to read this here introduction to today's post aloud, and everytime I said a word and left off the G at the end of an ING word, you'd have to do somethin' silly or sexy to whoever you're playin'. (Also, jam RATT'S Lay It Down while playin' / eatin'!)

Cute! As per usual.

But I wonder if there would be any way to incorporate some of Carol's Smokey Christmas Spread into a game of Dandy Candy?

Karswell's salted nuts say "yes!"

(don't forget the Cheerios)

The Cheerios are a special treat, only if you're good.

Those illustrations are more horrorify then half the stuff on The Horrors of it All!

That Ice Cream Sundae is basically demanding you eat of it's body, and eventually it's smiling face will emerge from your left check and demand blood tribute.

I don't think playing RATT will help, but, in the same genre, you might try Dokken, that's sure to scare most demons away ....

The goose stepping Soda Pop is pretty intense, I agree, Brian... or maybe he's moshin'?

I think the soda bottle is acting as a drum major leading the candy to freedom from candyland. Maybe these sugary citizens are from Livin' Island a la H R Puffnstuff. (Why Are these snacks so happy anyway? Did they escape from the candy store like the ginger bread man? Inquiring minds want to know.)

snacks are always happy!

It's every young snack's dream to be bitten, chewed, devoured, and... errr... let's just say etc!

Soda pop's my fave, followed closely by the peanuts. Gingerbread man's pretty damn cool too, but the BBs on his feet look unappetizing.

How many cards of each design make a full set -- four? (I'm guessing.)
