Flip-Ups by Forget Me Not

Is anyone else as obsessed with old greeting card art as much as me? One thing you can count on here at AEET will be alot of 50's, 60's, and 70's greeting card posts, and this example is a fun one that features super cute art on the front, on the inside, and even on the back, and SURPRISE! -- it doesn't open traditionally:

(front)

The rectangular crate on the front "flips up" (actually it flips sideways) like a door to reveal the towering, hairy chested, "Honey Man" beneath:

(inside)

From the exotic travel labels pasted all over the crate I suppose this guy has been around. I believe the expression on her tiny face says it all, and dressing him in nothing but a marble bag definitely keeps this card from being anything but sweet or innocent. "Ohhh!" she says.

(back)

Forget Me Not's "Flip-Ups" signature on the back is just as playful and nicely designed as the meat of the card, with a silly, nude(?) red haired acrobat flipping over the logo.

There's a certain style to the art here that is barely recognizable on greeting cards you find in stores today, though occasionally something this eye pleasingly simple and clever will jump off the shelf at me, over the godawful froofy photoshop monstrosities one usually sees.

  1. At least the patch of hair is on his chest, not spewing out of his marble bag~!

  5. I think it's cute, but it did inspire the disturbing, unwanted thought that the little lady better be on top of the large hunky gentleman or she will be squished should they have relations.

  6. >the little lady better be on top

But there's also more than just the top or bottom ways to having "relations."
