Well, we made it through another year, somehow. And if the pandemic didn't git ya-- and if you've been following the oh-so very simple, scientifically proven rules for the last few years to do your part, (seriously, this should NOT be this hard, people OMG), then you are absolutely invited to the AEET New Years Eve Bash of 2021-'22 today / tonight! Yes, Mr. Karswell has for you quite literally THE hottest ticket in town as we take a look at an eruptingly funny recreation of Pompeii's final festive blow-out, presented in a very wild, updated party theme format, courtesy of the April 1957 issue of From Here to Insanity V3#1. This one also has some very amazing art work from good 'ol reliable, Bob McCartney, --he created that crazy cool cover design as well! And if that isn't enough, I've also included some fun party game ideas from the same great, goofball issue. So come on, liven up that shindig with some va-va-va-voom violence! And of course it's Friday, so that also means it's time for some frightening fun... first up, we travel back to the 60's for a familiarly doomed New Years Eve excursion into the eerie realm of the supernatural, via the June 1966 issue of Ghost Stories #14. Hope everyone made it through the year without too much drama or tragedy, and here's a hopeful toast for a more normal 365 days in 2022! Salute!

Broom Closet
Does anyone else get Halloween cards for Xmas? I do. And this super nice, double fold-out, spring-loaded, pop-up witch is one of the cooler Hallmark Contemporary Cards I've unearthed recently, made even better by the top notch artistry from one of my all-time card designin' favorites, Lou Marak. I mean, seriously, the witch is brilliant, but look at that wonderful hand lettering. And are those not the best drawn doorknobs you've ever seen in your life? And let's take a closer look at that batty bat! It's funny too, as I've recently been contacted by a childhood family friend of Lou's, and while tearing apart my collection at home looking for other examples of his stuff for them, (without much luck), I instead find one at an antique mall! So once again, happy holidays everyone-- and that includes Halloween too!

The Escape from the Monster Mansion Game
In our last post (HERE!) we took a close looksie at the cover of the Monster Christmas Mash '74 record which creature-featured some rather awesome monster art by the great George Peed. Well, now we're flipping the record over and OMG is there actually a horror themed board game on the flip-side?!! YES-- there is actually a horror themed board game on the flip-side!! So while you're rockin' out to the silly sounds of that 'ol 33 1/3rd, gather your friends 'round the fire and have yourself a terrifyin' time escaping from Monster Mansion! Once again, astounding art by George Peed, and I've even included the how-to and rules of the game! Also, a link to my favorite song on side two HERE! Is this the greatest 70's kid's xmas record of all time? You freakin' know it is...

Monster Christmas Mash Record (1974)
The 70's was a great decade for monster themed holiday music, and the Monster Christmas Mash record from Peter Pan (1974) is no exception. Fun songs you can hear HERE! --not to mention the incredible cover design by the always amazing George Peed! Let's take a closer look at some of the wild art in detail, shall we? Yep, all of your favorite fiends came out for this excellent xmas shindig, and yeah, I know, xmas is over, but it's never too late to get in one more ghoultide post before the year is out. Also, if you think this cover art is great, wait'll you see what the Peed flip-side looks like! Coming up in our next post HERE!-- s-s-s-stay tombed...

Slay Bells!
AEET followers coming here today to gaze at cute vintage xmas card art or old catalog toy pages will have to note that Friday Frights falls on Xmas Evil this year, so we must of course pay Satan... errr... Santa his due! Let us sing: "Slay bells ring, are you listening? In the lane snow is glistening --with blood!" Yep, I somehow found two similarly themed stories that never made it to THOIA's archive, so consider this a horrorday bonus present for those who miss the 'ol gift wrapped Christmas carnage that Mr. Karswell once used to deliver! And from the festive annals of a fellow Charlton horror host, comes another serious toll to pay courtesy of the February 1976 issue of The Many Ghosts of Dr. Graves #55. But first up we'll visit the very special "Hate-the-Holidays" issue of Bizarre Adventures #34, (aka the final issue of this short lived series, in fact), for a taste of vengeance served much colder than a plate of old Chips A'hoy left out overnight for the jolly one! Here's hoping that everyone has a great holiday, we'll be back with a few more posts before December (and this yucky year) is over-- that is, unless Santa Claus gets us first!
