A Spooky Mobile!

Picked up this Norcross greeting card gem today at an antique mall, completely unused and ready to get things seriously spooky for you just in time for Halloween 2018! Just print out the scans on card stock and ask your kids for permission to use the rounded edge scissors to cut it out and string it up! And remember: No running with the scissors either!

The Vampire Girl of Collegeville

This costume was a long time coming for my collection, and yes, after years of trying to win a vintage 60's Collegeville Vampire Girl on eBay-- I finally did it-- hurrah! Lovely fun box design, with spooky "Reflecta-Lite Mask" adorned with reflective spots 'n drippy blood paint job, plus the odd, fuzzy/flocked variation of the frock (vs. the more common non-flocked color version, both of which seem to be loosely based on an old Vampira Show ad); and one other interesting touch being the glittery blue highlights that you only notice when light hits the frock just right!

What're you going to be for Halloween this year?

I also found this cheap little mask recently... does anyone know anything about it, name / date / made by? The non-painted sections are clear, and it's the most ventilated mask I've ever seen, haha.

You're A Fright for Sore Eyes!

Digging around in a big box of non sports trading cards recently, and found a great Insult Postcard put out by Topps in 1966. The full card set originally came with 32 different front illustrations (see them all HERE), and a variety of different backside images as well, with artwork created by Wally Wood and Dan Adkins.

Inspector Huck and the Mad Scientist

Time once again to head to merry old England and check in with Inspector Huck on another weird case from the Hanna Barbera Huckleberry Hound Giant Storybook (1961), written by Eileen Daly, and with really wonderful illustrations by Frank Savage. If tales of mad scientists and axe wielding monster wiener sausages are your thing, then this is the tale for you!

Humpty Dumpty Halloween '71

It certainly wouldn't be Halloween around here without some highlights from an old issue of Humpty Dumpty's Magazine for Little Children! And we have highlights a'plenty from the 1971 edition: singing cats, ghosts in the haunted house, and let's make some moon shaped cookies too! And after all of that fun, let's put on our air battlin' pilot gear because we have wicked flyin' witches out the wahzoo this time around leaving severed kid's heads all over the countryside-- can you find them all?!

Spook Town Devil Halloween Costume

Another recent addition to my vintage Halloween kid costume collection is this snarling Devil from the 50's? 60's? 70's? --anybody know? --with a beautifully designed haunted house window box, and a seriously terrific, Matt Fox-esque costume chest illustration. One of the better devil masks I've seen too, with colorfully menacing, fanged face and crazy eye make-up. I mean, nobody is going to mistake you for the real Beelzebub, but you'll sure give 'em a run for the money (and candy) as you creep along a darkly lit, leaf covered sidewalk on All Hallows Eve!

Cat Girls Cat-Astrophe

Cute story starring the purr-fectly adorable, Ann Gora the Cat Girl, in a bungling cat-venture overloaded with fun art and bad puns --like the one I just tried to make work! Yes, I'm just smitten with this kitten! Originally featured in the October 1963 issue of Archie's Madhouse #29, everything by Joe Edwards.

Cracker Jack Joke Books (PART ONE)

Don't even think about trick 'r treating this year without a crackin' good joke to lay waste to your neighbor's funny bone while earnin' that sugary sweet proper! And leave it to Cracker Jacks to deliver the goods, (when clearly they're not delivering much else, as it's easily my least favorite snack treat of all time!) BUT!!! I do love those itty bitty prizes, and after digging out a few of the best in vintage 70's tiny Cracker Jacks prize joke books, I thought it time to do you all a Halloween solid, and give ya a few FREE side-splitters that are sure to fill your bag with so much candy, you'll still have a tummy ache by Thanksgiving! So here we go, I have 3 of these lined up this month, each book is one inch high and contains 8 jokes in all, and you know that the teeny size required me to scan them in at 600 dpi so you can get a really nice look at that fun artwork!
