Ghostly Gallery

A few years back, I posted scans of Fred Banbery art from another amazingly spooky collection of stories called Haunted Houseful (click HERE if you missed it) --and today we have more! This selection of eerie imagery comes from Alfred Hitchcock's Ghostly Gallery, Random House / 1962, containing supernatural gems by Algernon Blackwood, F. Marion Crawford, H. G. Wells, Henry Kuttner, Robert Louis Stevenson, and many more. Man, I'd love to see Banbery's work in person-- it's fantastically fun and downright terrifying-- definitely the nightmare stuff that fueled the imaginations of my generation.

WICKEDISHRAG

A very cute book from '68, written and illustrated by Eugenie, Wickedishrag is about a little girl named Gwen and her unfortunate encounter with some mean 'ol witches! Fun tale with adorable artwork... and today's post is also very specially dedicated to another little and very mischievous / adorable Gwenie that I know! :)

"SUPER WILD" 'B' JOB ORAL-SEXERCISER

Little did I know what awaited me when I stepped into that dirty old hilly-billy gas station last night to relieve some bursting-at-the-seams bladder tension. Hanging there on the wall above the toilet, my eyes wandered across the hilarious variety of men's condoms and "performance enhancers" available via a 75 cent vending machine. Not in need of either of these things, I noticed at the far right the ever awesome assorted novelty gags and gifts option that I'm always incredibly fond of. It's a blind crap-shoot for sure, you never know what you're gonna get, but it's sure to be fun! Just plunk your quarters in and see what comes out-- sometimes you'll get mini nudie playing cards, or jokes about juggs, --this time I got a "SUPER WILD" 'B' JOB ORAL SEXERCISER!!

Let's take a closer look:

Yep, it's a balloon :)

Man-Bat Madness

I posted a classic Bat Man monster story HERE at THOIA during SDCC last week, so I'm posting some more Bat Man here at AEET this week! I love Bat Man, I super love Man-Bat, and I super-duper love Frank Robbins fantastic artwork-- so here's the trifecta of everything I love about the characters and artist from the October 1971 issue of Detective Comics #416. Holy splash panels, is that an awesome first page or what?! Cool Neal Adams cover too.
