Operate a Haunted House! (PART TWO)

Part Two in our condensed look at creating a financially successful haunted house (see our first post HERE for more details), and today's post focuses on how to pull off some convincingly gruesome gore FX tricks through executions, decapitations, and bodily dismemberment style scientific torture! And if illustrations aren't enough, maybe a few photos will convince you even more! Yes, these days you are no longer allowed to REALLY chop-up young girls in your haunted house, you actually have to break out the latex prosthetics and fake blood --arrrrgh, I blame the terrorists! Anyway, if this stuff turns your stomach too much, you can do something a bit more G-rated and spooky with the classic Spirit Method of smoke, mirrors, and lighting. Both are certainly winners in my book!

There's More?????
Wow!
Maybe one Halloween someday in the future I'll get to do stuff like this.

This just keeps getting better and better. This may be the coolest how-to book of the lot.

The Headless Woman!
I remember the TV commercial for Brigantine Castle featuring "the manequin man who seems almost alive, to the headless woman-who is". Now this is how horror should be done, not over the top and digital F/X, but convincing illusion and trickery to make you believe its real.

Let me echo everything else that has been said, this is a great book, it literally covers every classic haunted house effect.

More awesome room designs in the next post, including swamps, labs, torture chambers, tombs, devil's domains and even a space cantina-- PLUS more amazing old school fx trickery and monsters!

so why don't you have a fully functioning, money making haunted house yourself? i'm actually pretty baffled right now.

and i guess i'm the only one with my pea brain in the gutter but that "Added Make Up" part on the Operating Room diagram page is kinda interestingly placed. heh.

Yes by all means, liven up that girl on the operating table with some fun bits too while you're at!

I forgot to add that the Operating Table photos are from a cheap movie shot somewhere in the Carolinas.
That scene from the film is on YouTube and you can see the girl's arm hanging through the hole at the bottom of the table (I don't think it's in the 1:85 cut-off section of the frame.)
